A division of
Toyota geared towards a younger audience, the word scion literally
means descendant, usually the child of a rich or important family, so the
Scion name refers to both the car and its buyer. The car is descendant from
parent company Toyota, while descendants of Toyota buyers make up
the prime demographic. Scion was introduced to the California market in 2003
with two models, the
xA and xB. In June 2004 the brand became available
nationwide.
