Dodge was
founded by John and Horace Dodge, who began manufacturing bicycles in 1899. In
1910 the Dodge brothers set out to become the biggest auto parts
manufacturers, and in 1914 they
unveiled the first Dodge car. Dodge cars and trucks became known for their
ruggedness, and in 1928 Dodge was purchased by the Chrysler Corporation. With
the merger of Chrysler Corporation and Daimler-Benz AG in 1998, Dodge is now a
division of DaimlerChrysler AG.
